Keep Dutchie. Upgrade the marketing.

This is not an anti-Dutchie page. Dutchie runs point of sale and ecommerce for thousands of dispensaries, and if it runs your store, it should keep doing so. We integrate with it. The question this page answers is narrower: should your email, loyalty, and wallet program be a POS add-on, or a specialist platform that works with any POS? Here is the honest case for the specialist.

POS-bundled marketing vs a dedicated platform

Every POS eventually bundles marketing, in cannabis and everywhere else. Square and Shopify did the same in general retail. Bundles are convenient, and Dutchie’s Loyalty & Marketing Pro is a real product with channel breadth, AI copy assist, and behavioral segmentation. But bundled marketing carries two structural trade-offs. First, lock-in: Loyalty & Marketing Pro is a Dutchie POS add-on, so the program, including members, campaigns, and history, is tied to the register. Change POS and it does not come with you. Second, maturity: marketing is the bundle’s side business. Dutchie’s email program shipped around Summer 2025, and their own public onboarding docs include email warm-up guidance, the mark of a young sending operation. A specialist platform inverts both: marketing is the whole product, and it survives any POS decision you make later.

How it works alongside your Dutchie store

During onboarding we connect your Dutchie store’s catalog, offers, and customer list through our custom integration process. Your menu and promotions flow in, and campaigns link customers straight back to your Dutchie menu. From there the platform behaves the same as for any store: a morning feed of ready-to-send campaigns built from your data, each with a “why this email” explanation; a drag-and-drop designer with an insert-products picker; plain-language segments; and sending on two dedicated IPs with per-store DKIM and cannabis-disclosed, approved infrastructure. The integration details and setup steps live on the Dutchie integration page.

An honesty note, because our comparison pages only work if you can trust every row: our deepest integrations today are Treez and Dispense, and those power ticket-level revenue attribution and purchase-based segments. Dutchie stores connect via custom onboarding, and we do not claim real-time native Dutchie sync or Dutchie-ticket attribution until that adapter ships. What you get on day one is catalog-driven campaigns, menu deep links, your full contact list, and the entire wallet card program, which runs independently of any POS.

The numbers the specialist argument rests on

Specialist claims should come with receipts, so here are ours. One store’s monthly sending bill went from $1,240 on its previous platform to $12 with us, a 99% reduction on the same store and volume class. Measured head-to-head on the same store over the same 30-day window, our Gmail open rate was 40.1% against the incumbent’s 19.7%. One campaign produced $4,843 in POS-verified revenue inside a 7-day window, with the first attributed purchase landing 6 minutes after send. And send-time recommendations are built from your own data: more than 25,000 POS tickets analyzed at one store to find its real peak. These are the outcomes a marketing layer should be judged on, whichever POS sits underneath it.

The general-retail lesson about bundled marketing

Outside cannabis, this argument was settled years ago. Square and Shopify both bundle email marketing; serious merchants on both platforms still overwhelmingly run Klaviyo or a specialist ESP, because dedicated tools out-execute checkbox features on deliverability, segmentation depth, and reporting. Dispensaries cannot even take that escape hatch cleanly, because Klaviyo bans cannabis SMS and general ESPs carry acceptable-policy risk for cannabis senders. That makes the specialist choice more important here, not less. A cannabis-specific marketing platform with its own sending infrastructure is the equivalent of what Klaviyo is to Shopify stores: the layer that does one job extremely well, on top of whatever POS you prefer.
