A SpringBig alternative on solid ground
Two questions to ask any marketing platform: “Will my emails land?” and “Will you exist next year?” This page answers both, with citations rather than adjectives. Your loyalty database is one of your store’s most valuable assets, and where it lives is a business decision, not just a feature comparison.
The platform-risk question, answered from filings
We are not predicting anyone’s future, and every line below comes from public filings or reported press coverage, with no embellishment. Before signing or renewing a multi-year contract with any vendor, these are the facts a diligent operator would want on the table:
- SpringBig trades on the OTC Pink market (OTCPK: SBIG); it was formerly listed on Nasdaq.
- Its annual report includes a going-concern warning: substantial doubt about the ability to continue, citing recurring net losses and tight liquidity.
- Reported net losses of $3.2M (2025) and $1.9M (2024), with working-capital deficiencies of $3.5M and $1.8M, negative shareholder equity, and notes payable due within 12 months.
- On July 13, 2026, it entered a reorganization agreement extinguishing roughly $12.5M in principal and accrued interest on senior secured notes, described in press coverage (The Globe and Mail, July 18, 2026) as a lender-driven reorganization.
- CEO Jaret Christopher departed effective May 28, 2026; COO James Cabral departed June 16, 2026.
- Q1 2026 revenue was $5.4M, versus $5.5M in the prior-year quarter.
In fairness, and this counts for something, SpringBig would point out that recent quarters showed cost discipline and positive adjusted EBITDA, and their SMS product remains genuinely deep. It is also telling that the pressure comes from every side: Alpine IQ runs a dedicated “Switch to AIQ: The #1 Alternative to Springbig” page on its own site, claiming SpringBig lacks deliverability-rate tracking, conversion tracking, and AI-generated audiences. The takeaway is not “they are doomed.” The takeaway is: ask what happens to your data, your customer list, and your customers’ loyalty balances if your platform restructures. Ask us the same question. Our answer: everything exports, any time, and your campaign images live on your own domain, not ours.
SpringBig vs our platform
SpringBig pricing is quote-based, and figures below are reported ranges, so confirm with them. Financial facts are filings-sourced, as cited above.
| Feature | SpringBig | Our platform |
|---|---|---|
| Company footing | Filings disclose a going-concern warning; lender-driven reorganization of ~$12.5M in notes (July 2026); trades OTC Pink after leaving Nasdaq | Private, with lean infrastructure economics: platform sending costs measured in tens of dollars a month |
| Core channel | SMS-first; email is one of three channels (“customizable templates” plus segmentation) and is widely reported as the weaker toolset, often paired with a dedicated email partner | Email-first on dedicated IPs per store |
| Pricing model | No pricing published on springbig.com (verified); reportedly message-credit based, ~$1,000–$2,500/mo for SMS + loyalty (confirm with them) | Flat, public, from $250/mo, with no message credits |
| Deliverability | Homepage claims “highest deliverability for regulated industries”, with no numbers published alongside it | Measured and published: 40.1% Gmail opens head-to-head vs an incumbent, same store, same 30-day window |
| Native wallet passes | The “Springbig All-In-One Digital Wallet” is a web/app wallet, and no native Apple/Google Wallet pass was found on their site | Native Apple + Google cards with live points and live promo artwork |
| Campaign generation | “Automations” plus “Rewards & Offers” templates, configured by you | Campaigns generated from your live POS data, with visible reasoning on every suggestion |
| Revenue attribution | Campaign analytics | POS-ticket-verified revenue per campaign, named buyers, deduped totals |
| Vertical focus | “AI-Powered MarTech for Regulated Industries”: cannabis plus alcohol, smoke shops, CBD, casinos, sports books | Dispensaries only |
| Data portability | Your database lives on their platform; export before renewal | Contacts export any time; your images are served from your own domain |
How the 2-hour migration actually works
The mechanics are deliberately boring. You export your customer list from SpringBig as a CSV; our SpringBig importer is header-flexible, so email, name, and phone columns are detected automatically. We connect your POS (deep integrations for Treez and Dispense, custom onboarding for others), configure two dedicated IPs with per-store DKIM and reverse DNS, and your first ready-to-send campaign appears in your feed the same afternoon. From there, our automated warm-up governor ramps volume engagement-first over about two weeks, pausing itself automatically if complaint or bounce thresholds are crossed. The full timeline is spelled out on the switch from SpringBig page.
Day one also includes something SpringBig does not offer at all: native Apple and Google Wallet cards with live loyalty points on the face and live promo artwork pushed to every installed card. No app download, and no carrier between you and your customer. And because deliverability is infrastructure, not luck, sending runs on our own mail servers with cannabis-disclosed, approved sending; the details live on the deliverability page.
Why not a generic platform like Klaviyo or Mailchimp?
If you are leaving SpringBig anyway, the mainstream ESPs look tempting until you read the terms. Klaviyo tolerates cannabis email but explicitly bans cannabis SMS; Mailchimp has a long history of suspending cannabis senders under acceptable-use policies. Even when you stay inside the lines, you send from shared IPs whose reputation you do not control, and no generic tool understands dispensary data: purchase-based segments, expiring batches, restocks, or POS-verified revenue attribution. A cannabis-specific platform is not a nice-to-have; it is the difference between marketing infrastructure you own and a policy decision someone else can make about your business overnight.
